Leg Length Discrepancy Modifications to Shop Brought Footwear

An alternative solution and service we can offer our clients is having their own shop brought footwear adapted to suit the individual needs of your leg length difference.

We can offer an assessment and detailed footwear consultation, starting from £220. You’re welcome to bring your own footwear to discuss the modifications that maybe possible to your own footwear. We recommend you only have new or hardly worn footwear adapted in order to ensure the longevity of the modification, we will recommend the best option for you, go through the materials we will use, and the expectations of the overall finished look.

Common Causes of Leg Length Discrepancy

There are many reasons that Leg Length Discrepancy can occur within the body, these can be due to:

  •  Road Traffic Accidents
  •  Childhood trauma or illness (e.g. Polio)
  •  Birth Related Conditions
  •  Asymmetrical growth patterns

We use several precise techniques to compensate for leg length difference, some of these methods include:

  •  Heel lifts - this can be up to 6mm/1/4 inch per shoe
  •  Sole reductions - reducing the thickness of the opposite shoe.
  •  Internal Inserts - up to 6mm/1/4 inch
  •  Internal and External Boot Modifications for up to 25mm (1 inches) correction
  •  Custom Soles for larger differences, including up to 50mm (2 inches)

Each solution is tailored to your preference - whether fully discreet or visually balanced, for example, a 1inch heel on the long leg and 3inch heel on the short leg, or a concealed 2inch cork lift with matching outer heels for symmetry.
