Hand Carving the last

Each pair of Bespoke Shoes and Boots begins with the creation of your last, hand carved from kiln dried Beech wood and formed to the unique shape and measurements of your feet. The Last is custom designed from the detailed studies of your foot drafts and precise measurements. The patterns for your Lasts are drawn on to the beech blocks, before the wood is carefully carved and sanded according to the specifics of your feet or orthopaedic devices and toe shape you desire. Beech wood is chosen predominantly for its strength, durability and longevity, making it ideal for multiple uses. Last making is a highly skilled craft in its own sense, multi-skilled processes are used to take your measurements, drafts and information and transform them into a well designed, orthopaedic, beautifully and dynamically shaped shoemaking tool.  The knowledge of the orthopaedic foot conditions really transpires in order to create a wooden form that is supportive and corrective, allowing us to hand craft footwear that primarily focuses your personal needs.
